IWS Philippines Learning Forum

This feature is in development.
Thank you for visiting.

The Learning Forum of IWS Philippines is our other group platform on Facebook.  Also called the "fun forum," it was created as a place members can hang out at to share tips, lessons, tricks, get feedback, a place to ask questions on watercolor and materials, etc.  It is the less serious counterpart of the IWS Philippines group platform.

What members may see/share.

1.  Step-by-step tutorials.

"Liwanag at Daan"   A watercolor tutorial by Edbon Sevilleno.

Step-by-step tutorials walk you through a painting from start to finish.  The picture posts come with explanations or rationale.  These tutorials may be uploaded one picture post at a time (in real time as the artist finishes a segment) or they may be shared by the artist as an album.

To see a sample step-by-step tutorial, please click on the picture link "Liwanag at Daan" by Artist Edbon Sevilleno.

2.  Works-in-Progress

 See samples of works-in-progress
Works-in-Progress or WIPs are similar to step-by-steps in that they show the progress of a painting from start to finish.  No explanations or text accompany the picture posts.  But you can always comment or ask the artist about the painting or techniques that you see from one post to the next.

We started posting WIPs when we got feedback from some of the students/beginners in the medium that they feel overwhelmed sometimes seeing all the finished paintings posted.  Some said they don't know how or where to begin a painting. So we thought, why not share a painting's progress.  Perhaps when they see the procedure broken down into doable sections, it will make watercolor painting less daunting.

WIPs may come as a series of posts by the artist as they finish in real time, or as a set in an album. Click on the picture link to see WIPs by artist Wilfredo Calderon.

3.  Painting Videos/Time lapse Paintings
 IWS Philippines Learning Forum Videos

Painting videos let you see the artists in action.  In this video, Erwin Mallari paints a cafe scene.

This time lapse video shows how JC Vargas paints his distinctive watercolor portraits.

Our artists are often asked regarding the paints and tools that they use or favor.  Product infos are often shared within the conversation threads.  We would like to take it a step further by welcoming product tests or review requests.  For interested companies, please contact us at iws.philippineartists@gmail.com.  We will use the IWS Philippines platforms to share info on the products we have tested as part of our campaign to introduce quality materials for watercolor artists in the Philippines.
