IWS Philippines
is a country branch of the International Watercolor Society, a
non-profit organization dedicated to promoting watercolor artists and with aims of bringing the art of watercolor
to the highest level. The International
Watercolor Society started back in 2010, the brain child of Mr. Atanur
Dugan. His call to unite world
watercolor artists has met great enthusiasm that by 2012, the International
Watercolor Society has been officially established. The
Philippines was among the countries extended an invitation to join the
International Watercolor Society family back in 2014. To date, there are now more than 40 IWS
country branches and the list continues to grow.
In line with the goals of our parent organization, IWS Philippines is open to working with corporations, Tourism Department, NCCA, Municipalities and other organizations who wish to promote art appreciation, specially that of watercolor painting.
We offer the following program of activities:
1. Exhibition of watercolor paintings by member artists of IWS Philippines. The paintings will show a wide range of watercolor subjects and styles. We hope by showing samples of watercolor painting we can encourage more people to take up watercolor painting. This also will provide viewers a chance to buy original works of art, meet, and help support living artists.

2. Plein Air at the host venue can help soft promote the site by featuring the beauty and attractions of the location. It allows our artists a chance to practice live painting skills and gives us a chance to capture references or subjects for studio work. This is also a chance for residents and visitors to see a live demonstration of watercolor painting much like street art painting practiced in Italy and popular in most European countries.
3. Watercolor Workshops – We have skilled artists who can teach watercolor painting in workshops. Arrangement for workshops may be made in advance.
4. Live Portraiture / Demonstrations – Get a chance to see artists paint portraits/scenery from life.
We are open to other ideas and would welcome a chance to discuss further plans with interested hosts /sponsors
